New PARTS-PUBLISHER Update 2020
The new service release 2020-01 will be available for all PARTS-PUBLISHER customers at the end of July. We would like to give you an insight in advance.
The new service update of PARTS-PUBLISHER convinces with innovative power and new features for an optimal service process. You can look forward to enhancements in the area of shop, workbench and publication online, offline.
The new developments at a glance
SUPPORT OF UNIVERSAL 3D AS IMPORT FORMAT
Current browsers only support plug-in-free 3D viewers. For this reason Docware has developed the enhancement package 3D WebGL for the PARTS-PUBLISHER.
This allows catalogue users to identify part data in the 3D WebGL model and jump directly from the correct part to the parts list – without additional installations in the browser!
NOW FOR CATIA AND SOLIDWORKS CUSTOMERS
The 3D data can be transferred from many CAD systems. Up to now the export formats for customers of CATIA, SolidWorks or SolidWorks Composer were not supported by the browsers. Therefore 3D models could not be offered in the spare parts catalogue for spare parts and service information identification.
As a customer you can now breathe a sigh of relief, because as one of the first suppliers on the market we support the Universal 3D (U3D) format. Now it is also possible to use 3D models developed in the CAD systems of CATIA, SolidWorks and SolidWorks Composer for the spare parts catalogue.
Your advantage:
- Plug-in-free use of 3D data
- CATIA and SolidWorks customers can easily use 3D models in the spare parts catalogue
- Easier operation, better usability
- Faster identification and finding of spare parts and service information
RANDOM DISTORTION OF 3D GRAPHICS IN THE CATALOGUE
To protect intellectual property, 3D drawings (JT, fmesh, U3D) can be distorted.
This prevents the exact dimensions of depicted parts from being reproduced, while the part and its structure remain visible to the service technician.
In the past, dimensions for distortion had to be entered manually, which were converted in the same way for each 3D graphic.
Your Advantage:
Now the random mode can be selected. Each part is distorted according to its own parameters. This makes it impossible to trace the actual dimensions. Your 3D data and your intellectual property is protected.
DETERMINE SIMPLE ANIMATION SEQUENCE WITH 3D WEBGL FROM THE PARTS LIST
With 3D WebGL, 3D drawings can be used plug-in-free in the browser. The parts can be identified without further tools & techniques and you can jump directly from the correct part to the parts list.
With the 3D view you can for example
- turn the model,
- zoom in on details and hide unnecessary ones,
- display individual parts and run animations.
Animations in the 3D model not only support the identification of spare parts, but also facilitate the installation and removal of certain parts during repair or maintenance.
However, nowadays it is quite complex to create an animation and make it available.
The animation must be created by the design department or the editorial department and be prepared in the 3D CAD system or in a 3D illustration tool.
With our new feature, no further external tool or animation system is necessary.
It enables the catalogue creator to create a simple animation in the 3D model by simply adding further information to the parts list.
He only has to enter an order in which the 3D model should be exploded. PARTS-PUBLISHER automatically generates a simple animation from this.
The catalogue creator creates animations for his users quickly and easily, without external software tools or dependencies on other company divisions.
This means for the service technician: The structure of the part or assembly is clear and structured. The service technician has the possibility to directly follow the individual steps.
Your advantage:
- Easier creation of the animation, because no external tool (e.g. FinalMesh Studio, CAD system) is required to enter the attribute in the 3D model
- The editor of PARTS-PUBLISHER can make quick and simple adjustments
- Service technicians can follow the structure of the part step-by-step
DOCUMENTATION IN A NEW DESIGN
The descriptive documents that are attached to the spare parts catalogue are now available interactively in an even more usable and structured way.
The new design features a tile look that helps the user navigate more quickly to the desired operating, repair or maintenance instructions.
This makes service calls more efficient as the service technician receives the desired information faster.
In addition, the descriptive documents are fully integrated into the catalogue and no external viewer (e.g. Adobe Acrobat) is required for display.
YOUR ADVANTAGE:
- Plug-in-free viewing of technical documents
- The descriptive documentation for the spare parts catalogue is clearly and structurally identifiable
INDIVIDUALIZED E-MAILS FOR ORDERING AND CONFIRMATION
The service technician will receive a confirmation by e-mail after his order has been placed. So far this text was designed very simply. With the new feature you have the possibility to create individualized e-mail templates.
YOUR ADVANTAGE:
- Adapt the mails to your corporate design for uniform branding and higher recognition value
- Thanks to the easy handling of HTML, you can optimize and design your templates yourself at any time
PROVIDE SALES DEALS IN THE CATALOGUE FOR CUSTOMERS
Now you can create temporary sales promotions and offer them to your customers on an organistion- or dealer-specific basis.
Use the new feature for different promotions:
stock clearance, -sale
sale of articles
Promotion of new articles/ products
Sale and discount campaigns to arouse interest in calling up the spare parts catalogue more frequently
YOUR ADVANTAGE:
You can sell more spare parts, increase your turnover and improve customer satisfaction through a reduced sales price.
MINIMUM ORDER VALUE MUST NO LONGER BE REACHED
Until now, it was not possible to trigger an order if the minimum order value was not reached.
Now, as the supplier of the catalogues, you can provide the user with notes and additional texts and guarantee the service technician an order below the minimum value.
In addition, parts for which no price is stored can still be ordered.
YOUR ADVANTAGE:
- Better usability for satisfied customers
- More sales
ORGANISATION-DEPENDENT SHOPPING CART
If users are members of different organisations, their shopping baskets can be stored organisation-specific.
- Shopping cart of user ‘user0008’ in ‘Organisation_X
- Shopping cart of the same user ‘user0008’ in ‘Organisation_Y
YOUR ADVANTAGE:
Users can create organisation dependent shopping baskets without overwriting them or losing them when they change organisation/ area.
